Acne is a skin condition also known as pimples. It occurs in many teenagers and some adults. Majority of people will suffer from acne at least once in their life time. Acne is usually found on the face, back, chest and shoulders.

Acne is usually only starts at puberty and for some people it may continue for many years. Most teenagers get acne when they reach puberty and their body changes and mature. When the body matures, they produce different hormones which then stimulate the sebaceous gland (oil producing gland) within the pores or hair follicles. When there is over active sebaceous glands, lots of oil is produced within the skin and this clogs the pores therefore causing pimples / acne.

Ensure that you wash your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser to prevent the oil from building up. Do not squeeze, scratch or pick the pimples. They WILL leave permanent scars. There are many treatments that can be sold over the counter to improve the skin condition. There are topical treatments such as antibiotic, benzoyl peroxide and vitamin A. There are prescription treatments available only if you do not see an improvement after one or two months.
